You are reader, a listener, a viewer, a fan.
You are an audience.
You observe the lives of people you know and love. You attend to your own life.
You are an audience.
But what type of audience are you?
More precisely - what type of audiencing are you doing?
All is revealed in my new book called 'Audiencing' exploring how people interpret, filter, and construct meaning based on what type of audience they are, and why this matters.
But first.....

But first.....
What is Audiencing?
"Audiencing is the act of giving your attention to someone or something."
It sounds obvious doesn't it?
It is. Yet it is exactly because it's obvious that we rarely give it any thought.
But we should.
Why?
How we audience affects everything we do: how we give our attention, our perceptions, our actions, our psychological responses, and the way we create meaning when we watch other people.

Where audiencing appears in daily life:
- watching movies, TV or theater
- scrolling social media (and making comments)
- reading news
- listening to music
- watching a game
- playing a game
- training someone to be in a game
- judging family, friends, colleagues, or strangers at home, at work, online or on the street
- forming opinions about yourself
In every case you are doing something. Many things in fact. You are constructing meaning through your own audiencing lens.
